Innovation Exchange is heading off to 2gether08 on 2nd and 3rd of July. The event will bring together 300 people to explore how digital technologies can bring us major social benefits. Their line is, ’solve bigger problems’, which I really like. Along with the Sian Lockwood from NAAPS, we are running a workshop called - unimaginatively - Independent 2gether, looking at the role web technology might play in improving access to respite care. It would be great if some of you could come along.
Our blurb about our session is as follows:
Control of social care funding is shifting from professionals to the people they serve. So, if the person who cares for you needs a break and you prefer a trip to Benidorm rather than the local respite unit, the choice is yours. Trouble is, information about all the great supported short breaks available across the UK (let alone across the world) is hard to find. People want to be able to find out what is out there, how good it is and book it in just the same way as people book holidays – on line - but systems are non existent. Hear our thinking so far about a solution and contribute your technical knowledge to help us find where to go next.

This sounds really exciting. in Control is developing an online way of managing your budget which handles procurement too and should be an e-market place as you’ve described. I’ll contact Sian to have a chat before the 3rd July.
All the best!
