Innovation Exchange on Radio 4

Posted by Raj Cheema on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

The World at One programme on Radio 4 today discussed the future of charities and their relationship with the public sector. On the subject of third sector organisations working in partnership with central and local government, Phil Hope (Minister for the Third Sector) was asked:

“But, in principal, what’s wrong with charities delivering public services? Aren’t you doing exactly the same for welfare reform and helping the long term unemployed into work?”

 His reply was:

” Third sector organisations are fantastic at in terms of reaching out to the people who are most vulnerable, in being innovative and we’ve got our Innovation Exchange and extra resources going into building the capacity of the third sector, so that partnership is alive and kicking”.
