Matthew Horne
Matthew is a DEMOS Associate working with 3 Local Authorities to improve parental involvement in children’s learning and get young people back into education employment or training. In the autumn he will be taking up post at Participle - a design studio for reinventing public services along with Hilary Cottam, Charles Leadbeater, David Albury and Colin Burns. Matthew has worked on family policy in government, and as a senior researcher at DEMOS where he ran their programme on public service reform. Recent projects include work on drug misuse, quality of life in old age, school leadership, prisons and healthcare.

Seb Elsworth is Head of Policy at acevo, the professional body of third sector leaders which works to connect, develop and represent its 2000 members. Seb leads work on the sector’s relationship with government and its role in the transformation of public services, sector funding, and has particular expertise in third sector governance. acevo has pioneered work on third sector funding over the past few years, including work on full cost recovery, and is currently running training sessions nationwide.

Julie Dent
Julie Dent was previously Chief Executive of South West London Strategic Health Authority until 1 July last year. She left the NHS in March to take up a new portfolio career including being Chair of the London Probation Board. She has established her own consultancy company and is currently working one day a week as a consultant for the Social Enterprise Coalition. She is also working for the NHS Institute of Improvement and Innovation on the Medical Leadership and Engagement programme. She is Chair of Secure Health a social enterprise providing health care for offenders.

Nick Temple
Nick Temple is the Network Director at the School for Social Entrepreneurs in the UK. The School for Social Entrepreneurs promotes social innovation by developing and supporting social entrepreneurs via its unique action learning programmes, which combine personal and project development for maximised impact. Nick was previously Director of the Global Ideas Bank, an online forum of social innovation, for four and a half years, and is still involved on a voluntary basis.

Kate Atkinson
Kate Atkinson is a social entrepreneur who establishes and supports small social enterprises. Her first company, Spruce Carpets, refurbished used carpets and supplied them onto people making the transition from homelessness to independent living in Glasgow. The company also ran a volunteer programme for people who had recently resettled and a training course in carpet fitting for excluded young people. Kate has since set up an environmental SME and recently completed a course in volunteer youth work.
