Having begun in the area of worklessness, with the help of Innovation Exchange, Slivers of Time has transferred this innovation into social care, where it is invaluable for holders of personal budgets. At any time, Slivers shows all the individuals qualified, available and willing to provide a particular service, from dog-walking to homecare. The system handles the whole process from booking to payment so that people can both go back to the same trusted supporters and find cover for them if they are unavailable. By enabling individuals to contract directly with one another, Slivers of Time provides vital capacity for the transformation of social care, opening up the labour market and placing control in the hands of service users.
