Where is the need for this project?

Between 40% and 60% of children born to parents with learning disabilities are removed from the care of their parents, either temporarily or permanently.

Where do you hope this project can go?

Brandon Trust and Symbol Family Support Services are launching a pioneering residential family assessment centre for parents with learning disabilities. A key ingredient of the new centre will be the application of assistive technology to enable such families to continue to live independently. The centre is the only one of its kind in the UK and will cater for eight families at a time for ten-week periods. The centre will use personal organisers, sensors and established telecare technology to protect children and help families to stay together and thrive.
